Daily Plate
Last year I was using the Daily Plate website to keep track of what I ate and how I exercised. I decided that it would help me not mindlessly eat, see post below, so I'm starting again today. :) www.thedailyplate.com in case you're interested! :)

In no way do I want to hijack her post, because, well, I have been a crappy blogger lady (ha! have another one that hasn't been updated in a year!). So, I am thrilled that she has helped out - EVERYONE should be jumping in :-)
We all know that we have eaten extra calories, ok, and possibly drank a few of them too, but I was thinking that laughter has to burn some of that right? So, here's to last Saturday... I had so much fun at cousin's dinner, seeing Charlotte and Aunt Annetta, and then Saturday evening.... what happens in mom's dining room stays in mom's dining room... but just a visual jolt for ya!! EYE CANDY! :-) Yum... that's calorie free, right??

Mindless Eating
I started listening to podcasts on my ipod in the car when I don't like what's on the radio stations. I found one from the "Vicky and Jen" series called Mindless Eating. Really interesting stuff! They had a guy on who studies nutrition said we make 250 food choices per day, while we all think we make only 20 food choices per day because most of our eating/bad habits are mindless. He used an example of secretaries who have the candy jar at their desk. He said they moved the candy jar just 6 ft. away and the secretaries ate less than half the candy they'd eaten before. The walk to get the candy wasn't "too far" it was just that it was a mindless thing to eat it and eat it. Those secretaries saved about 125 calories per day which amounted, for them, to be about 13 pounds per year!
He said there was also a guy who drank about 8 sodas per day. They tried putting his soda in a fridge out in the garage, but that didn't really make him think about it. So, they said he could only keep two in the fridge per day. If he took one out, he'd just have to put one back in-thus thinking about it- or if he forgot, he'd have to drink warm soda, also making him think about it.
Anyway, I just thought it was interesting. My evening tv/snack habit is mindless. I watch tv and enjoy the show, eating all the while, only realizing after the show is over that I've eaten quite a bit of chips. An update on that, I have been into an every other day pattern, which is better than nothing, but still not at my goal. I haven't ran in over a week, although I walked to get Madeline yesterday from school, and Chris and I went for a walk last night.

How is Everyone??
Hello! Hadn't seen a post in a while or heard how anyone is doing, so I thought I'd post. I have only exercised once in about a week and a half... and I ate well over the Thanksgiving holiday! I feel like I'm heading into hibernation zone where I want to eat everything bad for me and not exercise at all, which is a bad combo. I'm setting a goal for myself here: no snacks after dinner. No glasses of wine unless it is a special occasion-I mean a real special occasion, not "the day is over!" :) However, the holidays are coming up and a glass here or there isn't awful. So, I will check in later this week and let you know if I've succumbed to chips as an evening snack... Wish me luck! And, how about you all? Any food that really gets to you? Or a time of the day when you snack?

Loathing Loss
Not weight loss of course - loss of any other kind. Loss of my youth, loss of my kids now that they are older, and mostly I loathe the loss of my mind.
I've done remarkably well this week, and managed to drop 5 lbs without even trying, Isn't stress a strange thing that way? I have also done very well with my food, Tonight was about 3 Oz of salmon, spinach, 1/2 of a gold sweet potato, and a huge salad. Later Nehemiah and I had air popped popcorn with ranch seasoning and then a fat free sugar free Jell-O. Yum!
My insomnia last night made me come in my office and find my last Turtle though, and eat it at 2 AM. Which led to about 5 Milk Duds! Love chocolate and caramel!
I have been doing tons of work around the house still, and I am using that to compensate for the exercise I'm not getting in. I put the second coat in bathroom today, it looks great, like a creamy latte brown - purdy! Then switched two closets and went through all of Nehemiah's clothes again to make sure his pants weren'tbutt huggers super tight, because if he can get them on ~ "they fit"! I was down to my last load of laundry until we began this expedition. You'd be surprised at the amount of dirty clothes a boy can keep in his closet!
I also finally finished my ACE Personal Trainer Course Book - Now I have a TON of review to do. I'd like to take my exam right around the new year - just start it off with a bang and set it up to be WAY better than this one has turned out!
Tomorrow will be starting laundry over again - But I think I might take a guest pass to Bally's and see how I like it. I guess I should go to sleep if I have such lofty plans! :-)

Sunday
Hello! It's Sunday! It's sad when the weekend goes so fast that I typed "Saturday" as the title and had to change it! Ah, I don't like that weekends speed by so quickly! :)
On the exercise front, I ran the last Friday and Saturday, and yesterday I cleaned out my big perennial garden, breaking a nice sweat. Unfortunately, on the food front, I ate at a Mexican restaurant on Friday night (bad, fried food and chips...) and had chips last night, too... Anyone else feel like it's one step forward and two steps back? :) Better than just two steps back, I guess. Hope you all are doing great!! Tomorrow (or today, depending on your calendar ;)) is the beginning of a new week!! We can have a good week (let's try hard since Thanksgiving and LOTS of food is around the corner!! :))

It's Thursday!
Hello, all! Is anyone still out there? :) I have not exercised since my yoga class on Tuesday night-well nothing other than the ordinary everyday things like laundry. :) We have had a lot of heavy laundry lifting, though... ;) I am planning on getting a run in tomorrow-send good vibes... to get back to it, again, after being off for four weeks since the flu and bronchitis. How about you all? Anyone trying new things? Eating differently? Hope all is well!

Biggest Loser Monday

This morning I didn't have to take my son to school, so I slept in a little bit, and then I got up and played my new Wii game...
I wish there was a way to compete with each other online because this would be a lot of fun. I did the workout on "easy" just to see what it was about, and it was fairly easy. It was 23 minutes, then I chose to do an 8 minute cool down. My only complaint is that it said that I burned less than 100 calories. Um... really?? Why was I red and all sweaty? I don't think that was right, but hey, what do I know? I think a walk around the block will make up for a Big Mac Value Meal! (j/k)
I hope everyone else is doing well... we can all get motivated to do something! Sometimes the baby steps will lead to bigger ones, next thing you know we'll all be running! :-) Everyone have a great week, and don't be shy! I hate playing alone! Love you all! - 'Nette

Day Three - where is everyone?
Good morning everyone - Let's get up and motivated today, and just do a little extra. (Jen - that doesn't mean extra coughing however!!) I had reverse insomnia this time (like my friend Kim gets) - usually I am up 'til 2 AM, but this time I got to bed by 11 but was up at 4:30. So, I got up and deep cleaned the living room and did some major re-arranging in the guest bedroom. I had to also pick up the mattress and box spring off the frame because one of the slats had fallen... then once I got those up I realized I should probably clean under there, then it all just went from there. Needless to say I broke a sweat by 7 AM this morning, but that won't be all. I am going to get on my Biggest Loser Wii game today too! If no work comes in I am putting a second coat of paint in the hall bathroom too! :-) Happy Tuesday all - I'll check back later!!! Ok - off to start laundry and drive Nehiamiah to school!!

Treadmill Shmedmill
Today was not a treadmill day for me, but I did get lots of activity in nonetheless. I redid Nehemiah's bedroom, which included moving 2 dressers into and 1 dresser out of the room, moved the bed, moved a TV stand in and got rid of the one that was previously in there, vacuumed, hung curtains... and spent over an hour navigating and carrying a Foosball table around the house, then up the stairs then even longer trying to get it in the door. Ended up taking the legs off the table and the door off his room! I was DETERMINED after we got it up the stairs, it was gonna fit in that room! I did have help, so I am not complaining, but it was a ton of work! I have picture-proof - so enjoy. If only he had something on the walls, or if I could get the stuff I need to paint up to the ceiling it wouldn't look so "eggshell" ... UGHH!!



Well - that is my "excuse" for the day... however, I am more sore than I have been in a LONG time!! I am doing the Biggest Loser Wii game tomorrow... so, I will get more in then, still have no solid plan in place, just staying super busy 'til I figure it out! Hope everyone did well today! Hope to hear from you all!!
I'm glad to see Charlotte finally on here! Yeah! And I got an email from Chris, so looks like we have a couple people that want to play along! I'm glad to be able to keep in touch and help each other out!

November 1st ALREADY??
It's game on AGAIN for all of us trying to win the battle of the bulge this holiday season! Today is the official start of our Booster Club*. Let's all start just by doing something simple like taking a walk, or whatever doesn't seem too threatening. I mean, it is day one, and a Sunday - right?! Plus, no early burn out this time! Goal here is no weight gain over the holidays, to improve our health, and anything else is a bonus; just like the cherry on top of a hot fudge cake from Big Boy.... crap! There I go again!!
Good luck and be sure to check in with a comment - or your own motivating post! Hope to hear from everyone. I'll check back later as soon as I get a "plan" in place as to what I intend on doing - obviously from this post it isn't much... but it will be something!

Hey all! I got a great workout this morning! Cyndi sent me the EA Sports Active for the Wii!! OMG!! It was so much fun, plus it was hard - but not too hard~ I love it! It's a blast! I am doing the 30 day challenge right now, along with Jillian! LOL!! We'll see if I can't pull SOMETHING out in the last little bit of our competition. As for winning the whole thing, I may have to eat humble (cherry?) pie - (eating crow just sounds disgusting) on all that trash talk, but it was fun while it lasted!!
I hope everyone is making some progress and congrats to those who have made their goals, or have gotten close!!

I've figured out the secret!!
You actually have to DO the videos after you buy them!! So, I took the shrink wrap off of the 30 day shred on Friday last week - and in all honesty almost needed paramedics several times over the weekend to help get me up any time I sat down. I did it again today, and it was easier, and I didn't cheat as much! It's a really great workout for me to get back into things :-)
Here's to one more attempt at kicking some booty! ESPECIALLY A CERTAIN UNCLE OF MINE - Who seems to be getting a little too familiar with cashing the monthly checks! ;-)

I got you by a bunch
Hey girl, you found Jillian, that's great! But I found her about 2 months ago. So I got a jump on you but I do have to say that if you stick to her you will be amazed by the results!!!! And you will definately have a better chance. But like I said I already found her and am quite a bit ahead of you, so this will definately get more interesting!!! You have a fight on your hands girl and it has been quite a while since I was on the receiving end of an ass whoopin :) By the way there is not a name in the book I have not called Jillian during her workouts. Be ready to work your ass off! I suggest the 30 day shred first, 10 days for each level and you won't get bored. hint use 3lb wights, no more. I started with 5s and she doesn't tell you until another video that she only uses 3s. The other workouts are quite a bit harder. Good luck!

Just in case I didn't win last month
I am setting up to WYA's in April BIG TIME!! I have been on a free shopping spree! Woo Hoo! My favorite kind. I had some gift certificates from Amazon (one of the best places to have a gift certificate for, what can't you find there?) and another website for doing a usability survey with them at the end of last year. I finally broke down and found what I wanted... and everything was geared at kicking everyone's behind! So, I ended up ordering this....
Ok, now, one of the books I actually didn't order, I got it already this week through my favorite PaperbackSwap website. I also ordered a new set of headphones for my iPod, but it didn't seem to fit in with the rest really, so I omitted the picture. Now you may be thinking I am Jillian Michaels obsessed, and well, truthfully I am. Can't help it... She rocks, takes no crap, and gets results. So, all in all, there are 14 DVDs and a few books that are going to get me one step closer to my goal!! Better watch out in April everyone!!

Back on track
Went to the gym today - 20 minutes treadmill and 10 each on the eliptical trainer and bike! I am back on track and still have a chance to take everyone's money this month!!! Especially since some of you will be going out to dinner tomorrow night! :-)

Cheating to get the desired result
Ok, I have taken a hiatus from trash talk, but since I couldn't be held responsible for the things I might say, I decided not to say anything at all. Since I did have a a rough week... I also stalled big time. I was trying to figure out what I could for immediate weight loss to make myself feel much better. I did the only thing I could think of that wouldn't result in a hospital stay... cut off all my hair! I'm thinking of growing out my beard though to cover the double chin....

Where's the chatter?
It appears that our fearless leader is not wanting to talk about the current status. I guess once you eat a cupcake, it's all downhill from there!! So, I'm gonna put myself out here.
Charlotte is in Florida, Lynnette is (according to Ray Romano) "having her lady days," I'm planning on losing 3 pounds. I'm going to take advantage of her bloating to WYA!!
So, anybody else want to put themselves out here? We're half way through the month and I'm just getting started again. How bout the rest of you? Are you still dropping pounds??

Carbs fuel workouts
So, there were't any workouts per se going on today, but I did fuel up for my next one...
I figured everyone else has Tom around to tattle, I'm a BIG (yeah, I get the double entendre) girl; I can tattle on myself - sorta like senior year and going to Big Boy for breakfast instead of 1st period all over again - but I digress... actually, when am I not digressed?
So, I've carbed up, also known as using my drug of choice to numb the pain of my daughter turning 17. Don't let the "experts" fool you, french fries are a gateway drug... look here, I've moved on to the hard stuff.. that is chocolate covered cherry ice cream.... I'll be eating it out of a brown paper bag on the corner soon....
Hope you all did great, and don't let the video fool you... I could have spit it out.... (but I didn't!! LOL!) Love you all!! Keep up the great work! :-)

TIA did 40
Today I did not want to go work out, but I had to, because I had 3 people that wouldn't let me weasel my way out of it. I still didn't have a great work-out, but I felt a HECK of a lot better when I was done... must be all of the laughing.
Now, we are all in need of some help here, and this was posted WITH permission. Tia ROCKED her sit-ups today, and did 40. I laughed so hard during hers that I only did 10 tonight. UGH! We started our 100 push ups program and believe me, it is HARD!!!! Mom started hers too, GO TRUDY!! :-)
Anyway, I had to get the camera when Tia was almost finished because her facial expressions were KILLING me!! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time, and I needed it!! So, here it is.... Tia, getting her 40 in... and that 40th one was a KILLER!!!!

Finally going down
I'm finally making progress and lost another half a pound this morning. It feels good to be making progress and it's motivating. I could use some help keeping motivated and this seems to be helping. I'm afraid to ask how Tom wanted to help :)

Another great day - but no video
Hey everyone -
I hope everyone is doing well, I am still on track, and feeling great! My knee is getting some much needed physical therapy finally, and it's sore, but in a good way! All around it, not IN it!! On another great note, Tia lost another pound, too!! We have some more great videos to shoot, but we are taking a break tonight!
We got our 2 mile all terrain hike in and that's gonna be good enough for today. Tomorrow we start the hundred push up program!! It trains you progressively 3X a week for 6 weeks until you are able to do 100 push ups!! Check it out if you want to do it with us!! HUNDRED PUSH UP WEBSITE

Wow!
Good job Lynette! The family hasn't talked this much about something since Becky found a man! Oh and nice videos. Looks like your kids are going to win this thing! Didn't gain any
Since I didn't gain any weight while I traveled this time, I almost figure that's as good as a loss. We only ate in the hotel and there was very limited choices (expensive ones). So, now I'm back home and back on track. Had my salad and a burger patty for lunch and planning on wya!

Day 2
No video today because I said A$$ too many times on my last one, and well, it's Sunday! Just thought I'd check in and let you know the reasons why I'm gonna whoop your butts today -
because I am resting up for the week, so that I will have extra power to get through my rough work outs and cardio! So, the rest of tonight is sitting here watching movies, getting ready to get up early and get it started tomorrow morning. I lost 4 lbs last week - and plan on doing about another 3 this week!!
See you all tomorrow - hope you are all doing well - even though I still plan on whooping your tails!

The first day to kicking your ass
Hi everyone - although we began this processs January first, some of us are a little slower than others. I got my kick in the pants some time earlier this week, when something really hit me - and hard. I got an infection in my toe. I know, sounds silly, but I needed antibiotics, and we had a "snow day" here, and I couldn't get ahold of my doc, so I went to a little CVS Minute Clinic, and Tia came with... while in there the doctor asked my weight, and I had to say it outloud... in front of her!! So, that was my slap in the face - maybe it was 2 months late, but I am here to kick everyone's ass now.
I am too competitive for my own good, and I don't feel the push so much all the way out here, so I thought a little trash talking would help! So, here you are at my first installation of the blog that was soley created to talk smack and egg on my competition!!
I plan on listing my workouts daily, and linking to my Daily Plate so everyone can see if I've been good or bad!!

The steps I took today TWYA
Cardio - 4 mile hike with the boys
Upper body free weight training
Crunches on the ball
Diet was good... except I did cave in to 1/2 cup of mac 'n cheese - considering it would usually have been about 6 times that much, and I had LOTS of calories to spare still at dinner, I went for it! YUM!
I don't know how to link directly to my diet - but I am logging everything I eat on Livestrong.com - username divaunderneath. You should be able to look me up - I'm looking for a way to post my work out and food without having to type it all in here -
